This koi features a deep jet-black sumi foundation typical of quality Kikokuryu, overlaid with developing beni plates that create strong visual contrast. The metallic skin shows a refined sheen, enhancing depth and movement as the koi swims.
At 36 cm as a nisai, the koi demonstrates healthy growth and solid body volume, with good thickness through the shoulder and a clean tail tube. The sumi is expected to continue rising and shifting with seasonal temperature changes, adding character and evolution over time — a hallmark of the variety.
